Introduction
Teaching social
care workers to tackle the causes of institutional racism is difficult
using traditional training methods. Using the power of interactive
multimedia this CD provides you with a virtual environment in which
to explore the complex issues involved in helping just one Black
service user achieve equality of access to an appropriate social
care service.
Using ten virtual
case studies the program encourages you to identify, critically
analyse and counter the processes of institutional racism present
in a virtual social care agency. Adopting this approach enables
you to graphically link the abstract concepts of this phenomenon
with the organisational processes that can result in racial exclusion
for the Black communities.
You are encouraged
to critically reflect upon the teaching offered by this resource.
The design enables you to use the experiences and knowledge gained
to examine your personal and your organisations ability to tackle
the causes of social exclusion caused by the processes of institutional
racism. To
